Real First Post/Monkey King

As is my tradition to start major projects at the transition between months, I hereby [seriously] start this blog. My previous post was merely an opportunity for me to act silly, which I often can't be bothered to do.

This blog will be an outlet for my art, both works in progress and fully finished works. Alongside the art I'll be posting vents, shall we say, in which I'll use this blog to, for lack of a better term, blather on about concepts, observations, and ideas I have. These will come few and far between however, because I rarely get good enough ideas to talk at length about.

That being said, I'll post my first serious piece of art.
As an exercise, I was doing several sketches and silhouettes of human character poses. This particular one struck me however, and I decided to develop it further based on the character I was originally planning it for. Inspired by the concept and art of the Monkey King, I did this tribal warrior.

If the contrast is too dark, I apologize: this is somewhat of an in-between for work in progress and finished piece. It works alright enough on its own, but I'd still like to touch it up some, such as  the contrast. For those who can't see, he does not have a tail, but has more a braid of long hair that hooks onto his belt strap.
